Jacek Saryusz-Wolski: Either EU destabilises Russia, or Russia destabilises Ukraine

The EU needs to impose sanctions to destabilise Russia until it continues its incursion.

The statement was made by Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, the EP'd rapporteur on Ukraine, during a meeting of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

Either we will destabilise Russia by sanctions, or Russia will destabilise Ukraine by its incursion and thus delay Ukraine's course towards Europe, he noted.

The MEP thinks the EU countries should sell weapons to Ukraine.

The EU lifted the embargo on selling arms to Ukraine on July 16, but it factually continues to use it and doesn't sell weapons to Ukraine in fear of Russia, Saryusz-Wolski said.

He noted Russia could move further and form a corridor from Donbas to Crimea if the EU did not react properly.

The MEP said the EU chose the “more for more” principle to impose more sanctions for a stronger aggression.

He thinks the talks on the free trade zone and decentralisation is nothing else than following Russia's plans.
