Lukashenka: I don't rush to this Eastern Partnership

The Belarusian authorities are ready to repeat mass arrests of opposition activists of December 19, 2010.

“If you break the doors in the government building, I will jail you. If you run in the elections, I guarantee complete safety, but do it in a civilised way,” the dictator said.

He noted that the Belarusian authorities know that participants and organisers of protests were financed from abroad. “We know who paid money. I know what they wanted the candidates to do. They wanted Maidans in Belarus, which I could not allow,” he said.

“Let's do it in a humane way,” he warned.

Lukashenka noted that he did not expect the West to soften the attitude towards him personally. He stressed that solving the problem of the so called political prisoner would not play a key role.

“I do not rush to this Eastern Partnership. I have had enough of it for the past 20 years. If we solve one issue, they will find another and will pressure on me and my supporters until the presidential elections. Thousands are being killed in Ukraine. What is the West doing in this regard?” he asked.
