Veranika Charkasava Murdered 11 Years Ago

The murder is still not solved.

All that happened on October 20, 2004 was an absolute surprise. Journalist of Salidarnasts opened the door and was stabbed to death.

Veranika Charkasava also specialized in crime journalism. However, the first version was domestic homicide.

Her colleagues believe it could be related to her professional activity. In particular, representatives of the creative workshop "Agency of Journalistic Investigations" of the Belarusian Association of Journalists voiced version that Veranika Charkasava was embroiled in war between two criminal groups for control over Homel plant of wines. Murdered journalist, in their view, might have had information that could cause a huge money loss to one of the parties. There was another version - parties involved - former Infobank (now Trustbank) and topic of selling arms by Belarus to Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Law enforcement agencies left this crime unsolved, but also lost any interest to it.
