EU Extends Sanctions Against Klyuyev until March 6, 2016
Serhiy Klyuyev

The European Union has extended sanctions against Ukrainian MP Serhiy Klyuyev until March 6, 2016.

The decision was taken without debate at the meeting of the EU Council on social policy, employment, health and consumers in Brussels on Monday, according to an UNIAN correspondent from Brussels.

"The EU Council has extended the ban on entry and prolonged the freezing of assets for one person who is subject to the precautionary measures considering the situation in Ukraine, for another five months, until March 6, 2016. The Council also updated the reason for putting this person onto the list," the report says.

The details of the decision will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union on October 6.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 5, 2015, the European Union extended sanctions for 12 months against 14 ex-officials of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's regime. Sanctions against another four persons, namely former Justice Minister Olena Lukash, Oleksandr Yanukovych (former President Viktor Yanukovych's son), Serhiy Klyuyev, and former Education Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk were prolonged until June 6. Klyuyev's sanctions were then extended until October 6 and those against the other three until March 2016.
