Belarusian KGB: Prosecution For Both, Those Who Fought In Ukraine For Idea, And For Money

9

Dzyanis Asipchyk, the head of the Counter-Terrorism Department of the KGB of Belarus, informed that new articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus will soon come into force.

The new articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus will allow prosecution of people taking part in military operations abroad, whatever their motives are.

“While previously only actions committed out of lucrative interests were considered mercenarism, those who took up arms out of ideological or other beliefs will soon also bear responsibility for their actions”, - Dzyanis Asipchyk said to SB. Belarus Today.

It is to be recalled that Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich said to journalists on Thursday that law enforcement officers forecasted dozens of criminal cases against Belarusian citizens who had participated in military operations in Ukraine on one side or another.

In response to this the soldiers of the Task Force ‘Belarus’, which is a part of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps Right Sector, suggested that Shunevich should bring to justice the Belarusians who were fighting on the side of the pro-Russian terrorists.

For today it is known that several dozens of Belarusians take part in military operations in the East of Ukraine, on one side or another. Three Belarusians were killed in this war. One of them was Ales Charkashyn who fought on the side of the Ukrainians in the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps ‘Right Sector’. Also Siarhei Stsebihau and Vadzim Vasileuski who fought on the side of ‘DNR’ and ‘LNR’ combatants.
