Nyaklyaeu Calls Belarusians To Rally On Anniversary Of “Referendum” of 1996
Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu

Politician and poet Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu urges Belarusians to come to the square on the evening of the 24th of November and light candles to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the second “referendum”.

The politician wrote about this in his blog at “Belorusski Partizan” site.

“19 years ago, November 24, 1996, the second Lukashenka’s “referendum” was held.

Lukashenka’s first “referendum” of 1995 abolished Belarusian language and stripped Belarusians of their primordial symbols of national identity”

By his second “referendum” he entrenched his right for a life-long governing, thus establishing a dictatorship in Belarus.

In both cases, he violated the Constitution, committed a crime against the state, and he should be tried and punished for all this ", - Nyaklyaeu reminds.

To remind of that he urges all non indifferent citizens to come to the rally to commemorate the19th anniversary of the 2nd "referendum". He asks people to bring candles, oil lamps, portraits of the missing politicians and Belarusian national symbols.

The meet of the rally participants is to be at 18.00 on Tuesday, November 24 at Independence Avenue, 21 (near the state department store (GUM)).

Earlier, ex-political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich also called on Belarusians to come to the rally.
