He may face up to 10 years in prison.

The prosecutor's office of the Minsk region sent a criminal case to the Barysau district court against a 20-year-old conscript who is charged with violating military service rules (article 454 of the Criminal Code) and abuse of power accompanied by violence (part 2 of article 455 of the Criminal Code).

As BelaPAN learnt from Larysa Parkhimovich, a senior aide to prosecutor of the Minsk region, the conscript in the rank of junior sergeant, who was the commander of a squad of the engineer platoon, used violence against his subordinate in the sleeping room in July 2014. The soldier's injuries include the broken nose and a bruise on his face, which is classified as slight bodily harm that caused short health problems.

The charged offender is in custody.

He may face a prison term of up to two years for violating the military service rules (article 454 of the Criminal Code) and a prison term of from 3 to 10 years for abuse of power accompanied by violence (part 2 of article 455 of the Criminal Code).

The court can also confiscate his property and deprive him of the right to hold certain posts and carry out certain activities.
