Volha Nikalaichyk: Boycott if Statkevich is not nominated

The activist sees logic in boycotting the presidential elections.

Journalist and documentary director Volha Mikalaichyk told charter97.org she supported the nomination of Mikalai Statkevich as the common opposition candidate. She notes she likes the idea of boycotting the upcoming presidential elections.

“I personally support this position. I voted for Statkevich. I see logic here. If he is not nominated, we must boycott the elections. But he is unlikely to be released. We don't have elections, so a boycott is the only way out. I like this position. Boycotting the elections is the right choice in this situation,” she said.

Volha Nikalaichyk was recently released after 5 days in custody for a picket to pay tribute to Ukraine's Heavenly Hundred that was held near Taras Shevchenko monument in Minsk on February 22.
