American journalist denied to Belarus

The Wall Street Journal Europe journalist David Crawford was denied a Belarusian visa.

The journalist planned to visit Belarus to conduct a master class on February 28. He was going to tell his Belarusian colleagues about journalistic investigative organization CORRECT!V located in Berlin and involved in investigation of the Malaysian airliner crash in eastern Ukraine in 2014. The press service of the Belarusian Association of journalists (BAJ) informed charter97.org about it.

Hosts of the meeting learned that David Crawford was denied a Belarusian visa only on February 25. Commenting on the situation, Yulia Slutskaya, the head of the Belarus press-club in Warsaw, said: "As you know, Belarusian diplomatic missions give no reason for the visa denials. It is the first time we have faced it, I guess it will be the last time, we hold our meetings both with state and non-state media. Here we have an opportunity to meet with interesting people, discuss events and improve our professional skills. We hope our Belarusian journalists will have this opportunity in future.

Yulia Slutskaya says that Belarusian journalists will meet with David Crawford, but only on February 27 and in the form of a webinar. A famous journalist promises to contact his Belarusian colleagues and share "all planned materials and technologies," Slutskaya said.
