Mikalai Dziadok tried in Mahileu

Today the consideration of a criminal case of the political prisoner Mikalai Dziadok continues in the Mahileu prison.

He is accused of violating the regime of serving the sentence under Article 411of the Criminal Code of Belarus.

He is charged with 16 regime violations, the main is wearing a tracksuit instead of prison uniform, Viasna Human Rights Center reports.

Yesterday his father Aliaksandr Dziadok and his wife Valeryia Khotsina were allowed at the trial in jail. Valeryia says that Aliaksandr Mikalaevich has pleaded to be allowed to advocate for his son.

Ihar Shvedau, the judge of Leninski District Court, rejected the request, but allowed Mikalai's father to act as a witness.

The trial of a political prisoner began on February 25 and was held in a public regime. That day witnesses were interrogated.

Dzyadok was detained on September 3, 2010. In May 27, 2011 Zavadski District Court of Minsk sentenced him to four and a half years in a maximum security penal colony under Art. 339 para 2 of the Criminal Code (malicious hooliganism). On December 5, 2012 court order replaced his conditions with tougher ones, and Mikalai was transferred from the Shklou colony No.17 to Mahileu prison No. 4.

Human rights activists believe his participation in a peaceful demonstration against joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises was the reason for his sentence.

Dziadok was supposed to be released on March 3, 2015 after serving his punishment.
