Azarenka reaches Qatar Open 2015 semifinal

Belarus number one Victoria Azarenka continued her 2015 Qatar Open run in Doha with a confident 6-3, 6-1 win over world number five Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the quarterfinal.

In the opener the Belarusian, who is currently world number 48, eased pass German Angelique Kerber (World No.11) 6-0, 6-3. In Last 16 the Belarusian defeated world number 27 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1.

Victoria Azarenka will next play Venus Williams of the United States (17) who beat Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

Victoria Azarenka and Venus Williams have met on court four times before, with the American player leading 4-0.

Victoria Azarenka won the Doha tournament in 2012 (beating Australia's Samantha Stosur 6-1, 6-2 in the final) and in 2013 (seeing off Serena Williams of the United State 7-6, 2-6, 6-3).

In the women's doubles opener Victoria Azarenka paired with Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium reached the quarterfinal after beating Fatma Al Nabhani of Oman and Chinese Saisai Zheng 6-3, 6-4. After the Belarusian advanced to the singles semifinal, a decision was taken to complete her performance in the doubles and focus on the singles tournament. Thus, the Belarusian-Belgian duo gave way to Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears of the United States to the semifinal.

The current competitions in Qatar are over on 28 February.
