Hrodna resident opens fire on police officers

One of the policemen was wounded.

Paramedics had to call the police to take a patient to hospital. The patient opened fire and wounded one of the police officers. The incident took place in Kletskau Street on February 1. The paramedics, who arrived on the call, were unable to take the patient to hospital – the man refused to go, threatened the paramedics with an air gun and was going to commit suicide. The police were called, Vecherni Grodno writes.

Two policemen and the patient's son tried to talk to the man, but he refused to talk and said them to leave the flat. He locked himself in a room.

The police officers pretended they went away. The man left the room. When he understood the police were still in the flat, he opened fire on them from an air gun. He shot three gas cartridges and one BB. One of the police offices was wounded in an arm.

The police officers used force and fighting techniques despite a high gas concentration in the room. The patient was disarmed. He was taken to a special medical facility for treatment.
