Wages of Workers of Elizava glassware factory curtailed

Workers are paid two third of their wages, social allowances are paid in arrears.

Charter97.org website has been informed about that by one of our readers. As said by him, the largest factory in Belarus which manufactures glassware, experiences difficulties in payment of wages and benefits.

“Visit the settlement of Yelizava, Asipovichi district. The glassware factory does not pay child allowances, or wages in full. The wages for December were paid on February 10. Half of our employees are paid two third of their wages. No one cares whether you have children or not,” the reader informs.

A representative of the factory confirmed that the situation is far from being easy.

“It’s true, child allowances were paid in arrears, but finally they were paid. But in general, many people work two third of the day, there is no work, and it is possible that such a situation is going to last for a long time. It is connected to limited supplies of gas, and we have to work in such conditions, using emergency reserved quota. And accordingly, not all production lines are functioning, and workers who have nothing to do are not are paid two third of their wages,” said representatives of the factory.

We remind that many Belarusian enterprises experience problems with wage payment. In particular, for a few recent months reports are received that plants are moved to four-day and three-day weeks, that wages are reduced or paid incompletely. Some employees are obliged to take unpaid leaves.

A few days ago the presidium of the Belarusian Trade Union of Industry Workers summed up the results of the work for the year 2014. In particular, it was said that the number of workers at industrial enterprises of Belarus fell by more than 10,000. The greatest number of workers was lost by such industrial giants as Atlant, MAZ, Minsk Motor Plant and Barysau-based plant Avtogidrousilitel.
