About 100,000 Belarusians haven't received wages

As many as 510 companies owe wages to their employees.

Charter97.org learnt it from the National Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, 87,300 employees haven't received wages.

“As of March 1, 2015, 510 companies in the survey owe wages to 87,300 workers. A total amount of wages in arrears is 300.6 billion rubles, or 1.7% of the country's wage fund in January 2015,” the committee says in a press release.

Many Belarusian companies have problems with paying wages to staff. In particular, there have been reports in the last few months about four- or three-day working weeks, failure to pay wages in full, a decrease in wages and mandatory unpaid leaves.

The number of Belarusians who do not receive wages at all or do not get them on time has been growing since the beginning of the year. As of January 1, 20 companies owed wages of Br22.1 billion to 3,000 workers. On February 1, 277 companies owed Br171 billion to 49,000 workers.
