Polish Foreign Ministry: Germany cancels Russian Night Wolves bikers’ Schengen visas

The participants of the Russian nationalist biker club "Night Wolves" are having problems obtaining Schengen visas, while the German authorities are going to cancel previously issued visas.

Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna said on Polish Radio Zet on Friday, according to an UNIAN correspondent in Poland.

"I know that they are having problems with getting Schengen visas," Schetyna said, commenting on the bikers’ controversial ride from Moscow to Berlin.

"In addition, Germany canceled their Schengen visas," he said.

"The Polish government is going to decide whether to allow these bikers to travel on the territory of Poland this afternoon," he added.

Schetyna did not rule out that Poland would also cancel Schengen visas issued to the participants of the club.

"We need to see what the visa situation is, and how it is associated with a list that we have received," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the representatives of the Polish authorities have described the trip of "Night Wolves" from Russia to Germany as a “provocation.” According to the bikers, the trip is intended to honor the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

As reported, the Night Wolves are planning to travel through Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Poland is to be the first country in the European Union on their itinerary, but Polish border guards have yet to decide whether to allow them to travel in the Schengen zone.
