Belarus number one Victoria Azarenka climbed up two positions making her way back to the WTA top 30.

Last week she played at the Madrid Masters reaching the round of Last 16 when fell to Serena Williams of the United States in a tight fight. Victoria Azarenka keeps 1,543 points and sits on the 29th place in the WTA Rankings. Belarus' Olga Govortsova who lost her Spanish opener to the tournament's winner Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic moved from the 134th up to the 126th position and currently holds 439 points.

The top ten players, according to the current WTA rankings, are as follows:

1. Serena Williams (USA) - 10,156 points

2. Simona Halep (Romania) – 7,115

3. Maria Sharapova (Russia) - 6,915

4. Petra Kvitova (the Czech Republic) - 6,670

5. Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) – 4,940

6. Eugenie Bouchard (Canada) – 4,063

7. Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) - 3,905

8. Yekaterina Makarova (Russia) – 3,465

9. Andrea Petkovic (Germany) - 3,315

10. Carla Suarez Navarro (Spain) – 3,250.

This week the world's leading tennis players will play at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome. Victoria Azarenka will face Casey Dellacqua of Australia (World No.42) in the opener. The winner in their encounter will play Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki in the second round.

Victoria Azarenka will make her eighth appearance at the tournament in Rome. Her best result was the final in 2013 where she lost to Serena Williams.

The tournament in the Italian capital will complete on 17 May.
