Activist from Mikashevichy detained for leaflets about political prisoners

Vital Kalinouski was detained for pasting leaflets about Belarusian political prisoners at bus stops.

The activist was taken to a police department in Mikashevichy for two hours. Leaflets were seized, and the activist was charged with “distributing of nonadvertising leaflets”, Radio Racyja reports.

“They wanted me to admit that I pasted the leaflets myself. They were about political prisoners. Yury Rubtsou will be tried tomorrow, so it is very important to tell people that we have political prisoners who cannot express their opinions freely.”

Vital Kalinouski says the trial will be held not later than June 12.
