Russian Helicopters signed a contract with Belarusian Defence Ministry on supply of 12 Mil Mi-8 (Ми-8МТВ-5; Hip) helicopters in 2016-2017.

"The Republic of Belarus is our important partner in the sphere of military-technical cooperation. These helicopters will help our allied state to strengthen the defense capability and extend the potential of armed forces", Alexander Mikheev (CEO of Russian Helicopters) stated at the signing ceremony, Interfax reports.

He noted that "the signing of such contract is another step in strengthening of friendship and business relations between two countries."

According to A. Mikheev, the contract will be performed in accordance with the Treaty on Development of Military and Technical Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus from December 10, 2009, as follows: supply of helicopters will be carried out under the same conditions and with the same characteristics as for national Armed forces.

Kazan Helicopter Plant produces Mil Mi-8 (Ми-8МТВ-5; Hip). It is both of transport and military use. Helicopters have a modern complex of flight navigation, radio communication and mission equipment. Mi-8/Mi-17 helicopters can be used in all weather conditions and are considered one of the best of their class.
