Mahilou residents: We don't need Donbas here

31

Residents of Mahilou were surprised to see a Russian citizen's car with Soviet symbols and Stalin's portraits.

The Russian citizen says he expresses his patriotic feelings and complains that his Nissan is banned from entering Ukraine and the EU, Radio Svaboda reports.

Many Mahilou residents looked with surprise at the car parked in Pershamaiskaya Street. However, only few of them agreed to say what they think. Most of them say painting the car in such a way was a bad idea.

“It looks funny. If I painted a car in the Belarusian style, with portraits of Kupala, Kolas and pictures of Belarusian landmarks, how many times would the road police stop me?” a girl says.

“I think Stalin is not a positive historical character,” another girl says. “Why decorate an expensive car with his portraits? It's strange.”

“My grandfather fought in the war, and I don't want his memory to be used for propaganda,” A resident of Mahilou says. “I am convinced it is made with the aim of propaganda. Why did he come here in this car? He has his own country, a rather big one. It may take him his entire life to travel across his native country. We don't need a Donbas here.”
