The dollar-Belarusian ruble exchange rate significantly rose on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange.

The average rate reached 15,130 Belarusian rubles a dollar, which is the highest exchange rate since March 16, when the dollar cost 15,120 rubles.

Today's official dollar-ruble exchange rate is 14,943, Nasha Niva reports.

The growth is explained with a sharp decline in the Russian ruble, which continues to fall for the last few days amid negative statistics in Russia (a 4.2% GDP decline) and new escalation in Ukraine.

The euro rate reached 17,031 Belarusian rubles against yesterday's 16,657 rubles. The Russian ruble went down from 281.22 to 274.29 Belarusian rubles.

The trading volume on the Belaursian Currency and Stock Exchange fell to the minimum level. The total volume of trading was only about $40 million in the last three days.

Exporters sell only the minimum mandatory amount of foreign currency. The rest transactions are performed in the interbank market.
