Azarenka moves to 26th in WTA

Belarus number one Victoria Azarenka climbed up one position to 26 in the recent WTA Rankings.

Before the start of the Roland Garros the Belarusian was 27th. After reaching round three on the Paris courts the Belarusian moved one position up with the total of 1,863. Winner of the French Open Serena Williams of the United States that saw off Victoria Azarenka in the third round cemented her leading positions in the WTA Rankings. Finalist of this year Roland Garros Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic hit the WTA top ten for the first time in her career. Russia's Maria Sharapova went down to 4th.

The top ten players, according to the current WTA rankings, are as follows:

1. Serena Williams (USA) - 11,291 points

2. Petra Kvitova (the Czech Republic) - 6,870

3. Simona Halep (Romania) – 6,130

4. Maria Sharapova (Russia) - 5,950

5. Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) – 5,000

6. Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) - 4,305

7. Lucie Safarova (the Czech Republic) – 4,055

8. Yekaterina Makarova (Russia) – 3,620

9. Carla Suarez Navarro (Spain) – 3,345

10. Angelique Kerber (Germany) – 3,120.

Belarus Alexandra Sasnovich moved from the 127th to the 126th position scoring 435 points. Olga Govortsova of Belarus went down from the 124th to the 127th position with 431 points.
