Chinese may become owners of Motovelo

The plant involved in a criminal scandal asked the Chinese bicycle manufacturers to become its new investor.

In early June Aliaksandr Muraueu, famous Belarusian businessman, who bought Motovelo control block of shares in 2007, having committed to invest not less than $20 millions in business development, Ezhednevnik reminds. But, as a result, only little more than $2 millions were invested in 8 years. Besides, Belarusian businessman and his partners, his brothers, were incriminated the siphoning abroad of equipment and money of the enterprise. The case with many inscrutable facts is being investigated. But long before the end of the investigation, the head of State said that we did not need such investors, and made Mikalai Ladutska, the former head of Mingorispolkom, Director of Motovelo.

With the state support Motovelo began to develop a programme of technical re-equipment of the plant. The Belarusian enterprise plans to use light aluminum frames and tire rims for Belarusian bicycles, as well as to modernize operating coloring line.

Along with production modernization Motovelo develops the plan on attraction of a new strategic investor. However, it considers China the only variant. The close cooperation with China is based on a great number of components for bicycles and motorcycles produced in China. In this regard Motovelo addressed to all the largest bicycle producers in the PRC with an offer to create a joint venture. Chinese delegations are to be in Minsk to assess prospects for possible cooperation.
