Azarenka moves up WTA ranking to 19th

Belarus' number one Victoria Azarenka has moved up to the 19th place in the WTA rankings with a total of 2,252 points following the 2015 Wimbledon tournament.

On the Wimbledon courts Victoria Azarenka reached the quarterfinal to lose 6-3, 2-6, 3-6 to Serena Williams of the United States. The American won the tournament defeating Spain's Gabrine Muguruza in the decisive match. Serena Williams now holds six Wimbledon titles and 21 wins in the Grand Slam tournaments.

The top ten players, according to the current WTA rankings, are as follows:

1. Serena Williams (USA) - 13,161 points

2. Maria Sharapova (Russia) - 6,490

3. Simona Halep (Romania) – 5,151

4. Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) – 5,000

5. Petra Kvitova (the Czech Republic) - 5,000

6. Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) - 3,835

7. Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) – 3,560

8. Lucie Safarova (the Czech Republic) – 3,515

9. Gabrine Muguruza (Spain) – 3,365 10. Carla Suarez Navarro (Spain) – 3,285.

Belarus' Olga Govortsova made a huge leap from the 122nd to the 81st place in the WTA scoring a total of 731 points following her maiden appearance in the Grand Slam fourth round.

Fellow Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich who made her debut in the Wimbledon main draw is currently ranked 122nd with 470 points. Vladimir Ignatik holds the highest position (210th) with 226 points among Belarusian tennis players in the ATP rankings. Max Mirnyi is 38th in the ATP doubles rankings.
