Polish fighters against dictatorship to receive financial aid

Opposition activists and victims of repression in the Polish People's Republic will receive 400 zloty.

The relevant law takes force on August 31 It was adopted on March 25, Polskie Radio reports.

The law covers the persons who “took part in anti-communist campaigns aimed at restoring the sovereignty and independence of Motherland in 1956-1989, risking their life, freedom, property and work, or faced repression for that reason”.

Financial aid of 400 zloty (about 95 euros) will be paid monthly to those whose income does not exceed 120% of the minimum pension (Poland's minimum pension is 880 zloty – about 220 euros).

The Institute of National Remembrance of Poland notes that anti-communist fighters should apply to the department of veterans and repressed persons to get the financial assistance.

The institute published the text of the law and the application form on its website.
