Two participants of Budslau festival arrested

People in plain clothes detained two participants of Budslau festival wearing t-shirts with national symbols.

Pavel Prakapovich, the representative of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, informed Nasha Niva.

The participants - allegedly father and the son - were detained by people in plain clothes and sent to the police station. Colonel Yury Zhalubouski, the deputy head of Department of Internal Affairs of Miadzel District Executive Committee, held a conversation with the detainees. It was stated that "it is not desirable to turn a religious event into a political one", the eyewitness Pavel Prakapovich said.

The detainees were wearing t-shirts with inscription "Belarus" in Belarusian and English.

The believers were convoyed to their car.

The representatives of authorities did not ask organizers of the festival whether they considered symbols "political".

This year the feast of Our Lady of Budslau hosted more than 10 thousand people, including 3000 pilgrims on foot.
