MFA: Kiryl Silivonchyk doesn't ask to transfer him to Belarus

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs keeps a close eye on Belarusian Kiryl Silivonchyk, who was convicted in Russia.

It follows from a reply of the MFA press service to BPF party's request.

The MFA says it keeps an eye on the situation of Kiryl Silivonchyk and respect for his rights and legal interests at the interstate level.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry says the information received during consultations with the Russian party and Silivonchyk's lawyer shows the absence of ungrounded restrictions of the rights of the Belarusian citizens.

The MFA notes that Silivonchyk didn't ask for consular and legal assistance and didn't complain during communication with representatives of the ministry. Silivonchyk didn't ask to be transferred to Belarus and assured his decision not to appeal against the court decision was conscious.

Kiryl Silivonchyk, a 23-year-old native of Homel who worked as a system administrator at a plant in Nizhny Novgorod, was sentenced by Moscow's regional military court to two years in a correctional facility for calls to return Crimea to Ukraine. He posted texts and pictures supporting Ukraine and condemning Russian policy on his account on a social networking website.
