Syarhei Mikhalok: Ukraine's spark for revolutionary sentiments within post-Soviet territory

Belarusian BRUTTO band performed at the Zaxidfest in Lviv.

Zik journalists talked to Siarhei Mikhalok, frontman of BRUTTO rock band, after the show.

We've always considered ourselves a Belarusian-Ukrainian band of creative terror and music resistance. We are well-informed about events. We are singing about current events, our songs Harry and Guerilla-rock are also about revolution in Ukraine with its spark for revolutionary sentiments within post-Soviet territory", the musician said.

Mikhalok also shared his thoughts about possible reasons for Putin and Lukashenka's behavior.

"I think it is all about some sniping in many people who think that they are too serious, someone like Putin and Lukashenka. I think people should understand that all such things are being done because Tom Thumbs live deep within these politicians who cannot perform as real men do. True men need no battlefield, but beloved wife, children, job are enough. One needs to understand that something's wrong with them. It pleases me", Mikhalok stated.

It should be recalled that Siarhei Mikhalok and his producer Anton Azizbekyan have decided to get full-time residence in Ukraine.

Mikhalok explains that the support of revolutionary events in Ukraine by his former group Lyapis Trubetskoy is negatively accepted by authorities of Belarus and Russia. It causes obstacles to a full-fledged creative process.

From the very beginning Lyapis Trubetskoy supported Ukraine in its Revolution of dignity. Their song "Warriors of Light" was one of informal anthems during the Maidan.

Lyapis Trubetskoy band was black-booked and had no right to perform in Belarus.
