Berazhkou’s lawyer: There are grave violations by Investigation Committee

The former general manager of Dinamo club has not been officially charged over a theft of Br1 billion.

On August 21 the website of the Investigation Committee posted information that the facts of a theft of at least Br 1 billion through abuse of official position by Uladzimir Berazhkou have been allegedly detected. A reporter of pressball.by called the lawyer of the former general manager of Dinamo Volha Stechman and asked to comment on the news.

- Uladzimir Berazhkou have not been officially charged with a theft of Br 1 billion, – Volha noted. – In reality he is accused of a theft of a far lesser sum, one order less. Meanwhile my client have not been interrogated as an accused, he has not been explained his rights as an accused person. The information that the Investigation Committee has information about a theft of Br 1 billion should be reflected in service documents, not on the website of the Investigation Committee of Belarus. The defence views such statements as a sign of nonobjective, biased investigation of this criminal case, which is carried out disregarding all factors, and as an indicator of pressure on public opinion.

She also added:

- The information of what had been happening in the club, provided by Berazhkou, impressed the investigator so much that he had not committed it to paper in the protocol of interrogation, which was not documented according to the interrogation results. And consequently, it was not signed by Berazhkou or by me. Thus, the Investigation Committee has committed grave violations of the Code of Penal Procedure, and they are not mentioned by the website of the Investigation Committee. And the names of persons engaged in the activities of the club and revealed by Berazhkou during interrogation on August 19, do not appear anywhere in the materials of the case now.
