Why Defence Minister of Belarus is missing?

The congratulations on the Paratroopers and Special Operations Forces’ Day are signed by the “acting Defence Minister” Aleh Belakoneu (Oleg Belokonev).

The message was posted on the website of the agency on July 31.

Earlier congratulations to military men both of Paratroopers Day, and on other holidays related to the Belarusian Army, were signed by the head of the Defence Ministry.

At the moment the military agency is officially headed by Andrei Raukou (Ravkov). He was appointed to the position of the head of the Defence Ministry on November 27, 2014, and replaced Yury Zhadobin. Aleh Belakoneu is First Deputy Defense Minister, assistant of Andrei Raukou. Under the law, the head of the Defence Ministry is appointed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, and approved by the “parliament”. However on the official website of the ruler there is no decree on appointing Major General Aleh Belakoneu (by the way, the native of Russia) acting Defence Minister.
