Hanna Shaputska: These “elections” are spit in soul of Belarusian people

All healthy forces should unite and ignore the large-scale falsification organised by the authorities.

Hanna Shaputska, an activist and coordinator of the initiative Save Kurapaty, said it in an interview with charter97.org.

– What do you think about the political campaign called “elections 2015”?

– Like all healthy political forces, I think there is no “election” campaign in Belarus. I won't take part in this “campaign.” I choose to completely ignore the electoral farce. We should combine our efforts and unite to resist the frauds organised by Aliaksandr Lukashenka. We can stop this mockery of the electoral process and the people of Belarus.

What concerns the choice, I think we don't have presidential candidates. They are fake people appointed to play one or another role. We see better and better how they perform their role. Each of them has his or her scope of activities, and all of them are pro-governmental.

– Do you think the recognition of the “elections” poses a threat to the sovereignty of Belarus?

– Of course. The recognition of the “elections” is the most acute issue today. I hope the international democratic community will not recognise the “elections”. How can be recognised what doesn't exist? How can the electoral farce be recognised? In this case all declared democratic values will cost nothing.

It is impossible to call black white. I hope all international observers will see the fake nature of the “elections”: fake candidates, no real campaign, no amendments to the electoral legislation since 2010. The presidential candidates who were imprisoned after 2010 haven't been rehabilitated yet and don't have an opportunity to run in the “elections”.

The recognition of the “elections” is out of the question. It's the same as spitting in the soul of the people of Belarus.
