Pensions rose by 6.3% since December, while ruble fell by 65%

Pensions in Belarus have decreased by half in dollar terms.

After the 5% increase announced in September, the average pension this month is 2.81 million rubles, which is by 6.5% more than in December 2014, AFN news agency quotes the Ministry of Labour of Belarus as saying.

The amount of the average labour pension in September is 2.84 million rubles, the average age pension is 2.897 million rubles, and the minimum age pension with bonuses is 2.9 million rubles.

The average amount of the social pension in September is 1.42 million rubles, which is by 11.7% higher than in December last year.

The Belarusian ruble has been devalued by 64.58% (from 10,810 to 17,791 rubles a dollar) in a period from December 1, 2014, to September 7, 2015. It means that pensions have declined by half in dollar terms. Only strict regulation of prices by the state makes the situation easier.

For information: As of September 1, 2015, there were 2.57 million pensioners in Belarus.
