Cases Of Businessmen Zukhavitski, Murauiou Completed And Transferred To Court

Two another landmark trials against Belarusian businessmen will start soon.

The cases of Aleh Zukhavitski and Aliaksandr Murauiou, who were pronounced the final charges back in May, will be transferred to the court soon. Head of the press-center of the Belarusian KGB Dzmitry Pabiarzhyn has told this to tut.by.

The materials of Zukhavitski’s case have already been forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office to pass them further to the court. As for Murauiou’s case, the defendants and their lawyers are still studying the case materials, which will soon be sent to the public prosecutor’s office as well, Pabiarzhyn has informed.

We remind, previously, Head of the State Security Committee Valery Vakulchyk informed that, as for these cases, “we have conducted a rather good investigation, there are no questions with regard to the proof of guilt in both cases.”

Aliaksandr Murauiou, who became famous after he had acquired Minsk Motorcycle and Bicycle Plant and the glassworks factory “Yalizava”, was arrested in late May-early June in 2015. The state is trying to rehabilitate the troubled asset now.

The main owner of the furniture group of companies “ZOV” Aleh Zukhavitski was detained in February 2015. However, later he was released under a non-leave obligation for several months, opened a new plant and repaid the damage for the sum of about Br 60 billion. Still, he got back to prison last November. The KGB suspected Zukhavitski and his companions in obtaining shadow incomes, followed by withdrawal of the funds abroad and tax evasion on a large scale.
