Last Year Information Ministry Issued 36 Warnings To Belarusian Mass Media

Access to informational resources in the Internet was blocked for 41 times.

It has been said in the answer of the Information Ministry to the address of the spokesperson of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Barys Haretski, posted on the website of the organisation.

In addition to issuing an official warning, according to the Law On Mass Media, the Ministry has a right to suspend publication of a mass media outlet for a term up to three months. However, as stated in the answer, the Ministry was not adopting such decisions in 2015, the answer states.

At the same time, in 2015 41 decision to limit access to informational resources on the Internet were passed.

We remind that last year at least 8 Belarusian mass media received official warnings from the Ministry for using abbreviations “RB” (the Republic of Belarus) and “Mininformatsyi” (the Ministry of Information) in their publisher's imprints.
