Statkevich: Trial Against Palchys Reveals Puppet Character Of Regime

The blogger is standing trial for trying to do the work the authorities are supposed to do.

Leader of the Belarusian opposition, ex-presidential candidate at the election-2010 Mikalai Statkevich has written this on his Facebook page.

“In the beginning of 2014, the Russian television was switched to the regime of the combat military propaganda in connection with the Ukrainian events. The aim of such propaganda is to breed hatred towards the presumed rival in the society, to “consolidate” the people around the state leadership, to prepare the people for the war by any means, regardless of what the real facts are.

The Belarusian inhabitants have become the victims of somebody else’s military propaganda, because the local regime sold a major part of its television space to Russia.

There were two ways to protect from it: to ban the Russian TV-channels or to balance the influence thereof by broadcasting the Ukrainian TV-channels.

However, our authorities, being fully dependent on Moscow, were too scared to protect the Belarusians’ brains from zombification with hatred towards the people who were ethnically close and amicable to us. At that moment, an unknown blogger attempted to do their work. They should have awarded him, but no – they put him under trial. They are just puppets, in a word,” – Mikalai Statkevich has written.

We remind, the action in support of Eduard Palchys has been held for the third day by now near the building of the Minsk city court. The Minsk city court is considering the case of the founder of the website 1863x.com in the closed regime. He is charged with "inciting hatred based on ethnicity and distribution of pornography."
