Yafremau About BelarusFilm: Studio Is In Debt, No Movies Are Made

The situation at the BelarusFilm studio is dramatic, People's Artist of Belarus Aliaksandr Yafremau says.

“The studio is in debt, no films are made. And it is difficult to imagine that there will appear such a movie in Belarus, which all the ten million people living in the country wish to watch, and it will make a profit,” – Yafremau said to Radio Sputnik.

According to him, the film is now able to make a profit or at least cover the outlay only if it gets released in Russia.

“The real money today can be obtained from the production of television series that Russian television channels buy. Over the past six years I made seven series for Russian television, and none of them in cooperation with the BelarusFilm studio, – Yafremau says.
