Russian-Belarusian Exercises Completed Near Brest

Landing of troops in the immediate vicinity of the borders of the European Union was exercised.

Joint tactical exercises Airborne Troops (VDV) of Russia and Belarus are successfully completed near Brest. The Ministry of Defence of Russia informs.

"During the exercise the "winged infantry" of two countries has successfully fulfilled combat problems, exchanged experience on the use of airborne units while anti-sabotage operations in marshy areas along the border of the Union State", the statement says.

200 soldiers of the Kostroma tactical group of the parachute regiment participated in trainings. They landed with the use of D-10 amid poor weather conditions in unfamiliar territory named "Sahara".

Flight crews of the Air Force of Belarus "have demonstrated a high level of professionalism" while landing of troops in the immediate vicinity of the borders of the European Union.

"For the first time it has been decided to form mixed crews of combat vehicles to improve professional skills and interaction of paratroopers of Russia and Belarus... Paratroopers of the two countries have exercised dismounting on the move, water-crossing, as well as tactical activity of the Union troops while an attack and resistance", the Russian Defence Ministry notes.

In addition, within three days paratroopers of the two countries exercised training and combat missions to conduct reconnaissance and search operations and took a raid on a basing area of illegal armed formations (IAF).

The Defence Ministry notes that Russian paratroopers have already left the field camp at the Brest training area and make a march to the Eastern Brest railway station . More than 900 military men and 150 pieces of military equipment and aircraft were involved in the exercises.
