Stage Play “The Time Of Women” Shown In Prague

Belarus Free Theatre has presented its famous staging at the Crossroads Festival in Prague.

The festival takes place in the Czech capital in honor of the 80th anniversary of the birth of Vaclav Havel, a dissident, and later the first president of the country. Havel was one of the first supporters of the Belarusian Free Theater, the official theater’s Facebook page said.

“The Time Of Women” is a story about three Belarusian women: the chief editor of the charter97.org website Natallia Radzina, Novaya Hazeta’s journalist Iryna Khalip, social activist and the Young Front leader’s wife Nastassia Palazhanka.

Iryna Khalip, Natallia Radzina and Nastassia Palazhanka were arrested on the day of the presidential elections on December 19, 2010, all of them went through the KGB jail.

As a result, they had to go into politics to draw Europeans’ attention to political prisoners’ fate.

“The Time Of Women” stage play opened at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw on June 10, 2012.
