Belarusians To Shunevich: Revolutions Start With Corruption, Poverty And Absence Of Civil Rights
IHAR SHUNEVICH

Belarusians got into an argument with the Minister of the Ministry of Interior of when and why "color revolutions" begin.

On Thursday, Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich expressed his opinion the Belarus 1 TV channel about the information wave in independent online resources aimed at discrediting the police.

– Analyzing the experience of almost all the color revolutions that have occurred in recent history, we can conclude that all of them started with discrediting the government, its strong force branches… I think, they are giving the same scenario a go here, – he said.

The minister immediately assured viewers that if "the vocal minority wants to arrange the chaos in the streets, the Interior Ministry will have enough resources to confront them."

Bynet users took the liberty to disagree with Shunevich’s words and named other reasons that had led to the discrediting of the police and authorities in general. Salidarnasts cites selected comments posted on the talks.by discussion platform:

"All the color revolutions began due to the fact that the authorities had discredited themselves to a great extent."

"That is why the authorities in Belarus want to increase the presidency term, the term of being an MP – to ensure the stability of their position in the society against the backgroung of the upcoming problems. Is the presidential term going to be 7 years?"

"They started with the corruption, poverty and lack of people’s rights!"

"Why does he go to give an interview on BT, having a subordinate with 3 ppm, and not to resign?"

"Revolutions start when the power forgets to resign at the right time...".

"The police is not a branch of power, as some people misunderstand, but a body standing on guard of law and order, and carrying out the will of the majority through the constitution."

"Illegal actions of those in power push people to the" color revolutions ", especially in those countries, where there is no peaceful way to change the people in power – through elections!"

"All the color revolutions start with hunger, low wages, unemployment, poor management model, etc. And it has nothing to do with discrediting – people choose sources themselves and filter the information. And BT is losing ground, young people do not watch it."

"They have ran out of money and started to intimidate."

"Their rudeness, absolute impunity and lack of professionalism have discredited them."

"Let the country develop, and you will not need so many employees to defend yourself from your own people."
