Traffic Policemen Massively Fail Polygraph Test, Arranged Following Accident In Liahavichy District

More than 200 traffic-cops have failed the "lie detector" test.

Employees of traffic police massively fail to pass the polygraph test arranged by the Interior Ministry leadership after the fatal accident, arranged by the Acting Head of Baranavichy SAI, BelaPAN reports.

As Minister of Internal Affairs Ihar Shunevich reported in his interview at the program "In Close-Up" shown on the Belarus 1 TV channel in the evening of December 1, by his order the traffic police "virtually en masse" has been subjected to study by means of the so-called "lie detector" – the polygraph.

"Each employee who's approaching the time when his contract is to be extended will be subject to this procedure," – the MIF head assured.

About 700 persons have already been checked and, according to Shunevich, "one third failed to pass the procedure and their contracts won't be extended."

Despite that the polygraph test is a voluntary procedure, the Minister claims: "Iа you either refuse to pass the polygraph test or fail to pass it the result will be the same – your contract won't be extended." Shunevich is even ready to "sacrifice" those employees, who are not guilty of anything, but who have incriminated themselves in communication with experts.

We remind, that on the evening of November 26, the drunk acting head of SAI of Baranavichy municipal police department hit a female pedestrian to death on the highway that runs through the village Dareva in Liakhavichy region. The 36-years-old Slutsk dweller, the mother of two, died on the spot.

The traffic police officer was off duty, drove a private car and was in civilian clothes. He was detained and a criminal case was initiated against him.
