25 White-Red-White Flags Hanged Out In Minsk Center

Youth activists hung out dozens of white-red-white flags on Independence Avenue in Minsk on the morning of December 8.

As the leader of "Young Front" Zmitser Dashkevich wrote on social networks, the action is dedicated to the 25thy anniversary of the collapse of the USSR and establishment of CIS.

Representatives of opposition organizations marched along Independence Avenue and hung out 25 national Belarusian white-red-white flags on street posts along the avenue.

Police stopped the participants of the action near the KGB building and drew protocols against them.

Police officers started to remove the flags at about 9.20.

The journalist of the Nasha Niva newspaper Iryna Arakhouskaya was detained during the action.

The girl was accused of hanging out the flags. The police officers claimed they had a witness who would confirm that. They brought Arakhouskaya inside the KGB building, but then released her.
