Head Of Polish Senate: Lukashenka - Very Cordial Person

Stanisław Karczewski returned to Warsaw after a three-day visit to Belarus.

On Tuesday morning, he was the guest of the radio station Radio Zet (translated by Radio Svaboda), and he shared there his impressions of Belarus and Lukashenka.

– That was the most difficult of my international visits, but the most important one. It was essential for Poland, for Belarus and for turning Belarus towards Europe, – Karczewski said.

When asked by a journalist was were his impressions of Lukashenka as a person, the head of Polish Senate answered:

– The conversation was kind and heartful. We talked more than planned, more than an hour. I had an impression that Lukashenka is a politician for whom Belarus is important. It's important for him to develop Belarus. And one can see with the naked eye, that Belarus is changing. I was there 11 years ago and over that time it has undergone great changes.

The author of the popular radio program «Gość Radia Zet» Konrad Piasecki has tried to get a private opinion on Lukashenka and asked to confirm or deny that he is "a man of low intelligence, specific, especially in interpersonal relationships."

– Mr. Lukashenka care about interests of Belarus, it is noticeable. And I could see, that he was a cordial person. That is how I can describe the meeting in a huge palace, a monumental building, which presses on the person with its weight. But the meeting was cordial.

"Cordial as a dictator?" – said the journalist with irony and continued: – Did you say him directly, what Poland thinks of Belarusian standards of respecting human rights?

– No, I have talked on this issue, but not with him. I am satisfied with the visit and believe that it will bear fruit, – the head of the Polish Senate said.
