Belarus Becomes Leader In Alcohol Consumption Again

In average, a Belarusian over 15 years old consumes 17,5 liters of pure alcohol per year.

British journalist and designer David McCandless in his book “Information is beautiful” collected the information about the countries from various databases, including the CIA, the World Bank, the Reuters and the Forbes. The data was divided into 9 categories: goods, psychology, environmental protection, culinary, economy, politeness, humanism, technologies and filth. After that the researcher calculated which country is the best at what, thinktanks.by writes.

Unfortunately, Belarus gained the first place in such a destructive sphere as alcohol consumption. Apparently, the author of the research based on the report of the World Health Organization “On Situation in Sphere of Alcohol and Health”, published in 2014. According to the document, in average a Belarusian over 15 years old consumes 17,5 liters of pure alcohol per year. Men drink more — 27,5 liters, while women consume 9,1 liters per year. At the same time, people in other countries of the world consume about 6,2 liters of pure alcohol per year.

The neighboring countries of Belarus gained more pleasant leadership. Thus, Latvia, according to the author of the research, holds the first place as for the number of beautiful women. Lithuania is the best at Wi-Fi speed, Poland – at currants, Russia occupies the first place with regard to the number of dashcam videos published in the internet.

If Belarus leads the world as for consumption of alcohol in general, France comes first relating to drinking Whiskey, the Netherlands - to coffee, and Norway remains the leader in eating pizza.

Great Britain leads in the number of millionaires, Cuba - in the number of doctors, Rwanda – in the number of women in the Parliament, the North Korea – in the number of soldiers (apparently, per one thousand of residents), and Mongolia – in the number of discovered dinosaurs – velociraptors.

According to the map, Germany has the best passports, Hungary – the best porn stars; Canada has the biggest number of people suffering from Facebook addiction, and the United States send out most spam.

Besides, there are also more negative examples of leaderships than our country’s. China is the leader in the number of imprisoned journalists, and Turkey stands out for its Twitter-censorship.
