Both Lukashenka and Putin consider NATO their enemy.
According to the video on ont.by, Belarusian engineers and scientists promise to create a new missile system with shooting range of up to 300 km and provide it to the military in the next two years, Nasha Niva informs.
“We need to have a weapon that would warn a potential enemy or opponent of our country against fighting with the Belarusians. We need a weapon that can inflict our hypothetical enemy unacceptable damage,” – Lukashenka said during the meeting with Chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus Siarhey Gurulyou.
This is why Belarus has decided to make a bid for missile weapons, Lukashenka added.
“We have created it. We put it into service,” – he added, referring to the «Polonez» (Polonaise) multiple rocket launcher (MRL).
Before July 1, 2016, a battalion of 336th reactive artillery brigade will be armed with a complete set of the «Polonez» multiple rocket launchers, with shooting range of up to 200 km.
As was earlier announced by Deputy Minister of Defense for Armament of Belarus General-Mayor Ihar Latsiankou (Igor Lotenkov), a Polonez MLSR battalion should be added to the 336th Rocket Artillery Brigade “before September”.
