Girl Beaten By SOBR Special Police: I Received Blow In Face And I Was Only Able To Cry I Am Pregnant

During the detention of a pregnant woman, Kira Kutsko, 24, and her husband, policemen were kicking and beating them by truncheons and army boots.

Kira Kutsko, a pregnant woman, told Radio Svaboda how on September 17, 2015 SOBR (the Special Rapid Response Unit) officers broke into their flat, in order to detain her and her future husband Andrei on charges relating drug distribution.

“As I remember, it was about 3 p.m., Andrei was not at home. I just finished cleaning the house, I hadn’t even taken off pyjamas, I hanged out the wash to dry – and understood something was happening. A blue Mercedes with tinted glass drove up to the house, masked people in armoured vests, with machine guns and a sledge-hammer jumped out of it and ran to our balcony.

I was immediately hit on the face by a hand, and only after that I managed to shriek out that I was pregnant. After that there were blows on my legs by truncheons and army boots. There was a feeling of blunt force blows… It was painful.

I started crying. At that moment people ran through the door. They started to shout and insult me, they called me slut. Until the last moment I could not understand what was going on and what the matter was. I started to panic. I asked to show their credentials. And they answered: if you are so smart, we are going to place you into a cell with boors, and they would explain you everything.

Andrei was taken into the flat. He was all covered with blood, with a big face abrasion, blood was leaking from it. His hands and back were stained with blood. His T-shirt still has blood stains.

After the search we were taken to the police department. Interrogation lasted for more than 5 hours. I asked to let me use the restroom, asked some water to drink – but my requests were ignored.

In a few days I could not take off my jeans at the doctor’s office. My leg was swollen, there was a hematoma. I started to look at my body more attentively, there were bruises, traces of hands. I filed a report to the Investigations Committee against the actions of the policemen, but it was denied to open a criminal case. The document about that was received in January 2016.”

Andrei and Kira married in the remand prison №1 in Valadarski Street before the trial, on December 16, 2015. On December 18 Andrei was sentenced to 10 years on charges relating Article 328.3 of the Criminal Code (distribution of drugs). Kira expects the birth of her son Hardzei (Gordei) in April. And she continues the struggle, for the responsible of the battery to be punished.
