Gross Regional Product Falls Down All Over Belarus

The most dramatic GRP decrease has been noted in Minsk region — by 9,4%.

In January-March 2016 the gross regional product went down in all the regions of Belarus including Minsk, BelaPAN news agency informs.

The most dramatic GRP decrease has been noted in Minsk region — by 9,4%, to Br 31 trillion 702,4 billion (14,9% of the country’s GDP).

In Mahiliow region, the GRP decreased by 3,3% to Br 14 trillion 127,4 billion (6,6% of the GDP), in Homel region — also by 3,3% to Br 23 trillion 432,8 billion (11%), in Hrodna region — by 4,9% to Br 15 trillion 972,6 billion (7,5%), in Brest region — by 4% to 19 trillion 311,7 billion (9,1%), in Viciebsk region — by 5% to Br 17 trillion 306,9 billion (8,1%), in Minsk — by 2,5% to Br 58 trillion 712,1 billion (27,5%).

As it was informed earlier, according to the first evaluation, the gross domestic product scope in Belarus in the first quarter of the year 2016 made Br 213.2 trillion, which is 3,6% less than the level of the first quarter of 2015 in comparable prices. The GDP deflator index in the first quarter of the year 2016 has made 112% in comparison with the same period last year.

The official prognosis for the year 2016, made by the Belarusian authorities and approved in December 2015, prescribed the 0,3% GDP growth. The prognosis was prepared basing on the anticipation that the year-average price for oil, which defines the economic activity in Russia and Belarus, would make USD 50 per barrel. Meanwhile, the oil price on the world market considerably decreased in January 2016. Today it makes USD 40 per barrel.
