Self-immolation On Kastrychnitskaya Square: Minsker Protested Against Court Judgement

Injured person is in a hospital now.

At approximately 17.15, an unknown man set himself on fire on Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk. Website tut.by received this information from the eyewitnesses who reported on that in social networks.

Two riot policemen appeared to be near that place at that time: they quickly tore the burning clothes off and extinguished the fire. The whole incident lasted for about a minute and a half.

Other witnesses also confirmed this information. According to them, the accident took place near the Kilometer Zero sign.

Later, in the daily news program “Panorama” at “Belarus 1” TV it was said that the incident was in some way a gesture of despair of the man.

He was married for 10 years and had a child. The couple divorced later. The court determined the frequency of meetings between the father and the child, but the man remained dissatisfied with their amount. He appealed to the Supreme Court, but the decision remained unchanged.

After that, the Minsk dweller tried to achieve his aim addressing the Presidential Administration, but all in vain.

Then the Minsker went to Kastrychnitskaya Square, poured gasoline over himself and set himself on fire. The riot policemen extinguished the fire, the victim is in the hospital now.
