Lukashenka Invites Raul Castro to Belarus

Today the ruler has met with the first deputy chairman of the State Council of Cuba and the Council of Ministers.

The Belarusian dictator drew attention of the first deputy chairman of the State Council and the Council of the Ministers of Cuba Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to "good trends" in increase of goods turnover between countries and economic cooperation as well, BelTA reports.

"We welcome normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States", Lukashenka said and expressed confidence that it would make a positive impact on the economy of Cuba.

The ruler added there had been good trends in agriculture, other industries important for the Cuban economy.

"We also see our place in the economy of Cuba." We are ready for such cooperation. All the more so as the good basis has been created - about 30 intergovernmental agreements are adopted, they create a relevant legal framework," Lukashenka said.

He expressed hope that the visit of a high Cuban guest to Belarus would contribute even greater dynamics to bilateral relations.

Regarding political contacts, the dictator noted Belarus and Cuba almost had no problems in sphere of diplomacy.

"Our positions are not just close on the international agenda – they coincide almost in all issues," he stressed.

The dictator has repeatedly invited the Chairman of the State Council and Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro to Belarus.

Lukashenka also asked to pass on his best wishes to Fidel Castro.

"I think in the foreseeable future I will manage to meet with him and we will discuss, as it used to be, the most topical events of international relations," he said.

In his turn, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez gave best regards of Raul Castro and an invitation to visit Cuba at any time.
