In 2015, the authorities requested information on a user, but Facebook didn’t provide any information on that request.

According to a report by Facebook on government requests received from different countries in 2015, Facebook administration received a request from the Belarusian authorities to provide information about a user of the social network, BelaPAN writes.

Facebook provided no information on the request from Belarus, the administration of the social network reports.

“We respond to reasonable inquiries that relate to criminal cases, – is said in the message by Facebook. – We check every request for legal sufficiency, and we reject requests or require clarification on requests that are excessively broad or vague.”

The administration of the social network said that the report on government requests for data include requests, which concerned various products and services of the social networks, including Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram. This is done in order to let people understand the nature and scale of these requests, as well as the strict policy of Facebook administration concerning such requests, the report said. Facebook plans to continue publishing such information regularly.
