Lukashenka’s assistant on economic issues Kiryl Rudy has suggested Belarusians should take up a financial diet.

He has expressed such opinion during the presentation of the English-language edition of his book “Financial Diet”, BelaPAN news agency writes.

He has pointed out that the population, despite the sharp decrease of their incomes, is trying to maintain the same mode of life for the expense of previously accumulated savings.

“Today we see the people withdrawing deposits, trying to live the way they used to. However, another reality is coming up, we should alter our mode of life. The diet is another way of life,” — Rudy has said.

According to him, the financial diet should be kept at the state level as well. “We can fill the economy with money and get a short-term effect, but we need to think long-term. If we don’t think about the future we will come across the trade balance deficit. The very idea of the financial diet is, let us spend less and leave the money to the future generations, our children”.

Rudy believes that limitation of the state support scope will motivate the enterprises to seek resources by themselves, also to attract foreign investments.

“If we keep the financial diet, cutting down our expenses, we will manage to fill in the newly appeared gap with foreign investments. The development of the investment policy should become one of the next stages of the Belarusian economy,” — Rudy has said.

He has underlined that the process of attracting foreign investments demands hard work on different directions. “Today we see that the tax allowances, which Belarus set for business, do not lead to a queue of investors standing at our doors. Attracting foreign investments remains a very complicated task,” — the author has noted.
