“Critical Mass” Detained Cyclist Moved To Remand Prison In Valadarski Street

Dzmitry Palienka was detained during the “Critical Mass” cycle event. Now the guy is in the №1 remand prison of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

Polienka is held as a suspect under Article 364 of the Criminal Code (“Violence or the threat of violence against law enforcement officers”). The maximum penalty for this charge is up to 6 years in prison, the Human Rights Center Viasna informs.

Earlier, the second detained cyclist Stanislau Kanavalau was released on bail.

As the website charter97.org previously reported, on April 29, the “Critical Mass” event ended with the detention of 6 cyclists in Minsk. According to law enforcement officers, they violated the road regulations, did not fulfill the requirements of the traffic police, and one of them even started a brawl. The police could allegedly initiate criminal cases against two of the detainees, but this information has not yet been confirmed. The fate of the detainee Dzmitry Palienka is yet unknown.
